Sample of the Middle School Process EssayWhen I was in middle school, a couple of my friends and I created a sample of the process essay for an English class. This essay was an exercise and I remember being very proud of the effort the students put into it.I remember at first thinking that writing an essay was a really difficult thing to do. You have to go through and carefully detail every aspect of a subject matter and then you have to write a summary and a conclusion. With an essay, you don't have to do this, you just have to sit down and make notes of each section of the essay.The sample of the process essay was our way of getting more students to take the time to write their own essays for us. Our reasoning was that if we got enough students to write, we would be able to tell which ones were doing well and which ones were not, and therefore we could evaluate them by reading their essays.So the students that wrote the sample of the middle school process essay were given a brief t o write about something they had learned or something they had written. They were also given an assignment to draft something on paper. We asked them to get rid of anything that they did not understand, so that we could make note of it later on.One of the most common reason that I have seen students give for not learning how to write essays is that they 'ignored' the instructions. However, in writing a short essay like this, it is possible that the student had some problems with understanding it. We found that the way they re-read the sample essay and attempted to follow the instructions, helped a lot. It made sense to them that if they read and understood the instructions, they could attempt to follow them better.Another way that I've found in writing the sample of the process essay to help students out, is that it helps them to remember that writing essays is not an easy thing to do. In fact, it is one of the hardest things to learn, and writing can be a real challenge. I have see n many students make a serious error when they are first starting out writing their essays.If a student is not in the habit of writing every day, he or she might not even be aware that they are not writing. That is not to say that there is something wrong with them, it's just that they might forget about it. It is only when they start writing that they are really reminded of what it takes to write an essay.The students who had the opportunity to create the sample of the middle school process essay learned a lot from it. They learned that it takes hard work to write an essay. That's the whole idea behind them, to allow them to see that they do need to work hard to write their own essays.
